Climb safe – read this first

The mountain offers great experiences – but also demands respect.
That’s why we ask all guests to read and understand our safety rules. With knowledge, awareness, and presence, you can enjoy the adventure with both heart and mind in the right place.

Safety Rules – Munkstigen via ferrata

⚠️ Training is mandatory: Climbing is not allowed without having completed both theoretical and practical safety training. All participants are fully responsible for following the rules and instructions carefully.

⚠️ Equipment usage: All safety equipment must be used correctly. The harness must fit snugly at all times — ask for help if unsure. Helmets must also be worn during descent. All gear must be returned after the climb.

⚠️ Age limit and responsibility: The minimum age is 7 years. Participants under 18 must have approval from a guardian, who is also responsible for the child’s safety throughout the entire climb.

⚠️ Registration and declaration: All climbers must register and sign a self-declaration before climbing, confirming they have read and understood the safety rules and instructions.

⚠️ Climbing involves risk: Move slowly and with control, and assess every step you take. Stay aware at all times.

⚠️ Personal responsibility: Every climber is responsible for their own safety. Guardians must actively supervise children for the entire duration of the climb.

⚠️ Wire safety: Carabiners must always be properly attached to the wire and clipped in opposite directions — to avoid detaching both accidentally.

⚠️ Keep a safe distance: Maintain at least one eyebolt between yourself and the next climber. When climbing with minors, you may move slightly closer.

⚠️ Overtaking: Only pass others on flat sections. Stay clipped to the wire at all times and communicate clearly to avoid making others feel unsafe or pressured.

⚠️ Secure loose items: Phones, water bottles, cameras, and bags must be secured. Falling objects can endanger climbers below you.

⚠️ Health considerations: People with physical or mental conditions that could endanger themselves or others must not climb.

⚠️ Substance use: Climbing under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited.

⚠️ Pregnancy and medical conditions: Pregnant individuals or those with epilepsy, heart problems, or neck/back injuries should consult a doctor before climbing.

⚠️ Valuables: Munkstigen is not responsible for lost personal belongings — during the climb, descent, or at the parking area.

⚠️ Weather and closures: The climbing path may be closed without notice due to dangerous weather conditions like storms, rain, or maintenance needs.

⚠️ Gloves recommended: Rubber-coated gloves improve grip and protect your hands from the wire. These gloves are available for purchase at the reception.
